Japan was once a friend and now a foe - well...technically I suppose. They entered the LoN only to, as the editor said, take a completely different standpoint and role in the world by drawing blood of the innocent.
Times are difficult and trivial and how we are supposed to absorb the new ways of East Asia and Europe are difficult ideas to wrap one's head around. We live in a world today of insecure nations who are all fighting for their place in the world. The only thing we can do is react. To respond first is a crucial and fundamental error. It is better to wait and react than to act first and be illustrated as the villain in the future. We continue to campaign to stronger nations in the West for support as we linger about waiting for crumbs to fall from their table and hoping that someone will intervene.
The single most essential tool we have is the power, will, and determination of our own people. That is a virtue that must be taken from our lifeless hands but will never be given willingly.
Coercive persuasion will not prevail and Japan is a villain.
