America is moving. We are seeing the first response to Nazi Aggression since 1939. Yesterday, November 8th, British and American soldiers stormed the beaches of North Africa in Algiers. It was one of the first amphibious invasions focusing on being the first “crack” at German occupied territory. Americans were shocked to actually first see French soldiers who are fighting with the Germans under Vichy France – a group that signed an armistice with Germany when Northern France was taken.
Right now, British and American soldiers are trying to see if Vichy France’s troops will fire upon our allies in German held North Africa. The British and American soldiers targeted three major beach landings with very few casualties.
Now, the Americans under General Patton are facing off against the Germans and their legendary Erwin Rommel who has a dramatically advantageous understanding of desert combat over the Americans. It will be mere moments before the Americans and British collide for the first time with the Germans in the North African desert. The weight of the world is on their shoulders.
Meanwhile, Britain is still picking up the ashes of their own country after being bombed mercilessly for months on end. British civilian deaths were horrific and the British nation is calling for revenge.
In the East, the Germans are trying to gain what they call Lebenstraum or “living space” by pushing against the Soviet Armies in Stalingrad. Blood is flowing through the streets on both sides as the Russians are frantically trying to reinforce their armies and are sending wave upon wave against German machine gunners. The youth of the Red Army are being cut to bits by the Nazi Killing Machine.
In the Pacific, Americans are approaching a small island in Polynesia – Guadalcanal. This objective seems to be fairly non-threatening, but Americans will find out soon as they begin silent marches through the jungles of the island waiting to find the Japanese. The Americans are officially trying to “island hop” their way back across the Pacific Ocean to keep Imperialist Japan at bay.
The war is intensifying and spreading like a virus.
