Mixed emotions

I have mixed emotions for the prisoners under Nazi Rule. I am not saying I am not praying for them, no way. The problem is I am not in a position to speak on the matter.

On the other hand, I am glad to see that the tide of the war is turning, and it was way past time for this to happen; especially after what has been put in to this war. I see this as proof of Germany faltering and biting off more than it can chew. Germany pushed too far trying to get as much of the USSR before winter came, they have spread out their forced all over Europe, and they have been punched out of North Africa. I believe even more now that we will keep fighting. I just have a good feeling.

Unacceptable

Dear People,
I write to you today in word of my thoughts, the German's must be stopped. To kill innocent citizens is immoral and we can not stand for it. We must stop them and do whatever it takes. German is becoming more and more of a threat everyday, and they must be stopped before it's too late. We are fighting this war for a certain reason, a tactic behind it all. But when it comes to killing innocent Jews and people that don't fit in, thats when it's too far. And I fear that if we don't stop them now, they will stop us...

Sincerely, Mr. Ethan Samston

To Crazy Davy Jones:

You are certainly a smart man. Your strategy is unorthodox, but you back it up with fact, so I can see your reasoning. My question for you is this: do you stand in the battlefield itself, or are you looking at the war from a third person standpoint? Because, you know, your location could affect the outcome of the war...

Nothing is the same

What has this world come to?
The Japanese are showing similar actions to those in Germany. They force their prisoners to walk miles to places where they are tortured beyond a point of humanity, where all morals seem lost. Fighting and marching in Guadalcanal many died, for their country. For those who unexpectedly died at Pearl Harbor. Willing to sacrifices themselves to stop the rage, terror, and war flooding the world.
The situation in Europe continues to increase in horror and fatality. It seems Hitler has become corrupt, is now killing for pleasure and so he leads those only he thinks worthy of living. Those that he wants to lead, not caring about those who would be loyal to him and are ready to follow, but have a trait or do/follow something he dislikes. The urgency of gaining control and helping those being held captive in Europe has come to a point almost intolerable.
It is unknown the amout that die in the death marches and that are being slowly and painfully brought closer to their deaths, but still hundreds die there. Brock Otter said the Germans have formed concentrations camps, killing at least 6,000 a day. Showing no mercy, compassion, or regret. Thousands more soldiers die in the Pacific and in Europe every day. In less than a week overhalf a million are dying for this war. Why? What will millions of lives being lost prove? We must continuously pray that this will soon be over. This haunting war, forever gouged into history will soon end; that lives will stopped being sacrificed for a man corrupt with power, for a battle started by an unexplained attack, and for some reasons unknown.

June 1943 – Daily Mirror News Update

Turning points have embroiled the Globe.

The shadow of Axis power that seemed to crawl across the world uncontested is finally shrinking. In January, the Soviet Union was able to finally push the Germans back and reclaim their own city of Stalingrad. Hundreds of thousands of civilians were killed in the siege. While all the Soviets have reclaimed is only now a pile of rubble, ash, and dead loved ones, they have been able to guarantee for the moment that the Nazis will not inch towards their claim to living space in Russia.

Meanwhile, the United States has finally crawled through the grass and maze of Jungle at Guadalcanal. The Americans were sleeping in the mud for months on end and being ambushed from every corner of jungle by banzai chargers. General Douglas MacArthur finally has some degree of retribution for the death marches of Bataan in the Pacific.

Weeks ago, Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Winston Churchill met at the Trident Conference. A main topic that was being discussed was the prospective invasion by allied powers of German occupied France. FDR and Churchill have instead elected to invade Italy in its place. Will we ever see a proper go at the Atlantic Wall or will it forever be that unwanted pink elephant in the room? The allies are realizing that even though they have pushed Rommel out of the desert, they will have to pull every inch of German occupied Europe out of the cold , dead fingers of every soldier in their path. It will be a long time before we seen American and British boys heading home.

I have chosen...

I have chosen my side, and I am anything but safe. Europe is at a time of war, you very well know, and now America has joined in the turmoil. I have known my position from the beginning, as you have known yours, Mr. President. We both want what is best for ourselves, our superiors, and our countries. Your country speaks of ending the war and my country speaks of establishing peace in Europe. That is the difference between us. In the end, maybe we will get the same thing, maybe we will be united, but we have each entered the war for very different reasons, under different circumstances. You see the different military mobilizations ,and now the war that has arisen, as a threat to the United States; we see it as a threat to our country and everything we hold dear, so we have acted differently. The outcome of this war will affect everyone in the world, no doubt, but where we stand will determine how we are affected. I won't say much, but I tell you this, I never wanted war, my friend.

ALERT ALERT!! NEWS ON GERMANY!!

I have just been recently informed of a newly created "solution" to the "Jewish problem" in Germany. Hitler is killing all Jews but also, The Slavs, Gypsies, and mentally ill. He believes his is creating racial purity among Germany. He has currently locked into his "control-mode" by gaining power over nearly all of Europe. He has invaded the Soviet Union and gathered up many Jews and sent them all to German controlled Concentration Camps. What is a Concentration Camp? A better name for them is Death Camps because this is mainly what the camps are for, ruthless killing. They conduct mass killings of Jews and other civilians they consider inferior. In the camps, the "slaves" or "prisoners" are given little to no food, worked to the bone or experimented on, forced to live in a four-person room with thirty people, and treated so poorly it leads to death or near death. Some of these camps are named Auschwitz, Bergen-Belsen, and Dachau. These Jew camps are rounded up by the SS goverment organization or Schutzstaffel which has an organization under it called Einsatzgruppen. There are SS doctors who constantly check up on these prisoners to to select the healthy ones who will live and the "others" which are to be killed. If you are not already dead from starvation, sickness, or just plain abuse, they check you and if you don't pass the check-up, you are killed in a "shower" which is used to gas these human-beings. The gases are usually Zyclon B or Cyanide and then bodies are cremated or pushed into trenches and this "shower" caused death accours 6,000 people each DAY!
Some of the Jews are able to escape but not for long. After being forcefully removed from their homes, they are checked to see if their occupation is in the "essential worker" range. If their job is useful to the war effort, they are sent to work or labor camps while their families continue to a death camp. These camps are all similar except for the fact that the workers can continue to live if they prove that they can do a good job but if they are caught "slacking-off" they are shot on the spot. But the living workers won't live for long... all Jews must die one way or the other... who will be next? What do you think about these camps and how Hitler is hiding them by covering them up as P.O.W camps (Prisoners of War) and under the cover of battle? What do YOU all think...?

FIRESIDE CHAT #2 from PRESIDENT ROOSEVELT

To My Fellow Americans Like FoxTrot Zulu
To My Allies like Galletas
To My Enemies Like Chocolate Cake, Mow My Lawn, and Jello

And To JohnnyBBetter:

War is hell - General William Sherman said that on his destructive drive to Atlanta during the Civil War. It has to be so terrible and awful that an enemy will lose all heart.

FoxTrot Zulu, we know your deprivations. You are our heroes. Every night we go to bed praying for your safety, willing you the strength to kill our enemy, and to prevail. Our grateful country thanks you for your service and we are mobilizing every man woman and child to support you back home. American women are building bombers alongside their men, American children go around the neighborhood collecting tin cans to be used in the war effort. My own grandmother uses her ration coupons to eat meat only once a week. Spam is on every American's meal plan. We sacrifice for your sacrifice. Fight on for us.

Galletas, you live in the shadow of the enemy, and you are loyal to freedom and democracy. Do not worry; DeGaulle will return and sweep the vichy away like pig vomit. Stay in the shadows and know we are coming for you. Take out your hidden radios and listen for our messages to the Free French who heroically battle the Nazis in their own backyard. We are coming for you. "It wounds my heart with a monotonous langour..."

Chocolate Cake, you speak of loyalty, but you are loyal to a mad man. Have you read Mein Kampf? Do you realize where this man is leading you. Remember that the lemmings loyally follow their leader... right off of a cliff.

Jello, I haven't heard from you. Is that because we have silenced your Japanese contacts in our camps near Seattle? You are retreating. Your time is short. Beware. Terrible, terrible weapons are coming.

And Johnny B. You are eloquent, articulate... and aloof. You sit at a safe distance saying grand things, but YOU are indecisive. This is a time in history where there is a good and an evil, a right and a wrong. This is the time to fight. To FIGHT. And I am worried about your ignorance - don't you see how stretched Hitler is? He has armies in North Africa, armies in Italy, armies in France. He is throwing away planes like an old woman casting bird seed, and soon he will have no air force left. AND he has made the mistake of Napoleon. He is fighting deep in Russia in winter. No army in history has survived that adversary. Open your mind, use that intelligence and see that Hitler is at heart a mere corporal, a spoiled child moving armies around like chess pieces.

End game is coming.

Response to Chocolate_Cake

Chocolate_Cake: I do not speak envy of your country. We have an amazing leader who has kept us out of this war as long as we could, unlike your leader who is causing mass destruction of his own country. He is killing innocent people. You do not call this spineless? Heaving all of your problems onto your own citizens. My country takes pride in every single citizen it has! We do not put to shame our people. We are all proud to be in this country! Unlike some of your citizens. Are you sure he truly cares you? Are you not just another German citizen? Cause that what the people in your prison camps were. Just another pair of German citizens.

The fuhrer

The Fuhrer is meeting us for a luncheon at this place, library door. on this day, monday, may 3rd. at 800 am.

attention all allied forces

you speak enviously of my pride in my country and its leader, and that's because you lack it yourselves. you are spineless jellyfish just moving with the tide. you have no concept of what true loyalty and pride in your country looks like. i pity all of you as you wallow in your indecision and pointless tactics. i advise that you learn to speak german, soon... very, very soon!
and to not here yet002: i know that hitler cares for me. trust me, i know.

Hitler is bad?

Hitler is not a soulless person, he is doing what is right for his country. He wants the living space just like the Americans wanted living space, and took out the indians, it goes both ways. Anyway as you see Hitler as some ruthless and cold leader, we see FDR as some cold ruthless killer.

To Mr.President

Just a thought- too bad giants aren't used to the desert. Or the ocean, for that matter. Your giants is huge and rather powerful, I must admit, but ignorance could ruin you. What a shame you didn't do any research. I'm through with the giant metaphor simply because I can't stand the thought of a giant being killed.
Good luck, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, because, I'm afraid you're going to need it. Hopefully, someday, we can meet face-to-face to have a wonderful discussion or two, but for now, my communication is limited to notes, so here is my latest.
All the best,
Johnny
Because You are one.

I can.

I understand the feelings of the Japanese Americans.

The world in ruin

NotHereYet002: I am completely and utterly in line with what you are saying. I cannot believe that people would follow a person who has caused this much trouble. Hitler is a soulless man with no reason in what he is doing. He may claim that he just wants more "living space", but how do we know what he really wants? Believing that someone so cruel could do something good for Germany is a thought that blows my mind.

Chocolate_Cake: Have you not been listening to anything we are saying? You people are obviously on a frenzy to kill and have no morals in your right minds. I don't understand how this is blowing over your head so easily.

Farewell.

FAspen

Indecision...

Indecision is a decision, my friends. Although some of you claim you do not know what side to choose, you are supporting the Allies as most are these days, I must say. But Germany remains loyal to Adolf Hitler.

You know, many of you dislike his policies and actions right now, but his leadership and public speeches seem to be drawing his country together in its time of need. Maybe the rest of the world could learn something from him... Most other countries seem to be split where Germany is united, so obviously they are doing things differently. Germany's army at the current time is indeed formidable and I pity the Americans fighting Rommel and his troops in North Africa. Strange how some people seem to rise up stronger than ever from the ashes of harsh criticism, eh?

Watch him, my friends, and watch him closely because with all of Germany behind him tremendous things could happen. When I say tremendous, I mean huge; once-thought-impossible; gigantic. Words like that can only describe the storm I see coming. Nevertheless, there are so many problems worldwide that something must be done, and one can only sit around and talk for so long before the need for action arises. And the time has come and gone, yet nothing has changed...

Not here yet... Your response to editorial #4 was my exact thoughts! Perfect way to fraise it.

Response to FDR

Glad you can join us after this "vacation". Second it is good that you have relieved that general and sended George Patton in to defeat Rommel. I wish him good luck and hurry up to win the war. But i disapprove with the relocation with Japanese who wanted to live in your country. However some people like Chocolate Cake who are fanatics to their country should be either relocated or deported. Also many lives have been lost including my friends and comrades in arms. We need to end this at all cost before people like I mow my lawn with a lamp destroy what's left of Europe.

In response to Editorial #4

America is being loyal to what they joined the war for:  helping out their fellow countries. They are supporting France and getting back at Germany for ever disrupting them. Even though I do not believe in killing or "You kill me, I kill you" talk, I believe that what America is doing is noble and to be respected. They are probably well aware of the power German holds but they put their fears aside. If we want this war to end, we need to do what they are doing, put our fears aside and finish this... please, let's finish this everyone. Maybe the Allies are setting a good example for the World that we need to help each other out. Whether it is helping each other out at the battlefield or home in your own country, we need to help each other out! Possibly, if we all help each other out, we won't need to fight anymore. But I realize this isn't a likely possibility because the world currently has powerful leaders that have completely different views. For instance, if Hitler asked if he could take France, most likely they wouldn't agree...

In response to JohnnyBgoode

I apologize if I didn't make myself perfectly clear to you, but my point is, that I am NOT perfectly clear in this situation. I do not have solid views on the war because I am not a solid contributor to it. I do not hate anyone or any one country because I would feel horrified if I was hated. Doesn't anyone see? This war is just a misunderstanding of ferocious countries. I do not have concrete views on what leader I am for or what I think...yet (until I have concrete evidence that anything is happening to change my views) but one thing I do stand firm in is that war is not an opportunity to throw away your values, morals, and what you have fought so hard to keep, your country's sanity. If I was in charge, I wouldn't have wanted this war in the first place. It is a sick excuse for hurting other people. I think that (as cheesy as it sounds) we all need to forgive. We all have lives to be getting on with! So don't let this war take you down. So I will clear my views up once and for all for everyone... My views are: at this point I don't have no exact views. I believe every country (including my own) has done immoral actions and so I feel that this blog is just me putting out my thoughts but I am not trying to put down anyone or any country because this war overall is sick and so I feel it foolish to just judge one leader or one action taken.

Dear Mother

Dear Mother,

I would love to share a fascinating book with you. Meet me outside the 8th grade homerooms on Friday, April 30, 2010 at 7:50 AM.

Response to Chocolate_Cake, I love Galletas, and Foxtrot Zulu

Chocolate_Cake: It is people like you that have caused this war. You are ungrateful and full of yourself like every other German out there. Why do you think Hitler cares about you any way? He killed all of those innocent people how do you know your not next? Same goes for you I Mow My Lawn With a Lamp.

I Love Galletas: You should care about other countries. We are all fighting one war. One big war and you are apart of it no matter what you say. Sorry to disappoint you!

Foxttrot Zulu: Wow. You aren't making anything obvious at all.

Response to Editorial #4

I am not sure what to think at this point. I just feel a little lost. In my opinion I don't think it will be worth all of those lives if they do go to the Atlantic wall. It is very risky, and I can't take any more lives being taken away right now. So many have been lost... let me get to my point though I think that it is a waste of man and material. IF something is 'too risky' then I want to know what the point of taken that chance is! But if that's what it takes to end this horrid war I'm all for it. We must put all of our faith in God that this war will end soon, and hope that certain people will be punished for their wrong doings. I must go for now. Until next time good-bye.

Responce to Editorial #4

Question #1
If you really think about it, the case could be the be-all/end-all operation. If the Nazi's really focus on what they want, they can do it. Plus, if America doesn't stop them, it will be the be-all/end-all operation of the war. If America can focus on what they want, the can win the war and stop this plan while it's still possible.

Question #2
The Prime Minister can scoff all he wants, but if the Atlantic Wall is the location of where you need to strike, then pull the men out of the desert and get them to the Atlantic Wall! For the love of Pete! This isn't a quiz show, people! Just get in there and strike where they're most vulnerable! If the Allies want to beat the Germans, they need to strike where they're weakest - the Atlantic Wall! The families at home want their men back safe and sound! Do you really want to be the person who tells them their men died in the DESERT?! I mean, come on, people! Use your heads for once! Don't fight fire with questions! Fight fire with water! Attack at their "Achilles Heel"! Get them where they're weakest!

Question #3
The Allies are not doing something worthwhile! They're killing their own men. Sending them into the desert to fight a war is like suicide! It's barbaric what you're doing to them! It's hideous what you're doing to your own men! Get them out of the desert, get them some REAL training, get them to the Atlantic Wall, and get them to fight for something important! They're probably dying of thirst out there! Make them fight for something you'll actually want to remember! I mean, do you really want to see newspapers saying;

MEN DIE IN DESERT
While fighting for their country, several young men die from dehydration.
FDR and other world leaders are being held responsible for making their men fight out in the desert only to end up getting themselves killed. When FDR was asked what he feels about the problem, he said, "I have no comment at this time." So much for our once great and strong president along with our once strong nation.
Do you really want newspapers all over the country to say that?! They might even say the same thing about the other world leaders. And yeah, I'm talking to you Mr. Prime Minister! Don't you scoff at something that's actually WORTH fighting for! Good luck standing up to your countries when you tell them you let your men die from thirst!

AMERICA AND HER ALLIES WILL PREVAIL

My apologies for my absence... I have been rather busy.

Let me make clear, our most important task is the complete defeat and disarmament of Adolf Hitler's Germany. That's right, Hitler's Germany. The German people have a long proud history, and I believe many of them want Germany to be cleansed of his fascist dictatorship - only a few Germans are like Chocolate Cake. Germans like Mow My Lamp may be proud of their fighting ability, but they will sicken when they see what Hitler and his ghouls have done. Felix Frankfurter from our Supreme Court has put before me a report that I can only hope is not true.

My commanders urged an immediate attack from Britain across the channel into France in 1942, but Winston Churchill did not want it... too many casualties he said.

So, we are in Northern Africa. I have relieved the commander after the debacle at Kasserine Pass, and I have put one of our best fighting generals in charge, George S. Patton. I believe he and General Montgomery will drive up through Italy - the soft body blow - while we mass our troops for the invasion of France - the knockout punch.

We must do this quickly while Stalin and his Russian army hold off Hitler. The Germans are just outside of Moscow. If we can attack the Germans from another direction, it will make things easier for Russia.

As for the Japanese, how can we now underestimate them after their treacherous attack on Pearl Harbor? We must be careful of Jello and her countrymen. I have signed Executive Order 9066 which relocates the "Issei" (first generation of Japanese who immigrated to the US) and their children, "Nisei" (who were US citizens) to special camps where they can be watched.

As I said to JohnnyBGoode, if you are going to kill the giant, make sure it is a killing stroke. The Japanese did not sink our aircraft carriers and now we have inflicted a mortal blow on their fleet at the Battle of Midway.

The giant is awake and at war.

President Roosevelt

In Light of Recent Events:

Faust Arp: I'm bothered by all of your quick judgements about everyone else. Try posting your views, not calling out random names. You might get more information that way.

Crazy Davy Jones: Puncture? We're talking about land here, not a balloon. America really has the lower hand when it comes to desert warfare and maneuvers. Maybe there is another approach... You can try going through Italy, but given the forces you're up against, there's a good chance you'll find it harder than you thought. I also noticed that you simply restated what had been said in the editorial, almost as though you are used to just following a leader blindly. Hmm. You bring up a good point that America simply can't fly over Europe and go straight to Berlin, but what good would it really do? Do you think Nazism is just going to die with Adolf Hitler? He's influenced far too many people for it to be stopped that easily.

Brock Otter: Which side are you on? Or do you even have a side? Some of your views are compelling, I just can't tell if you really believe in them.

i love galletas: You are a character! Is this Jew that has gone missing your only friend, because you speak as though she is. If it concerns you, do something about it, don't whine to us, we are fighting a war...Or do you just miss her excellent snacks?

I Mow My Lawn With A Lamp: You certainly have a passion for Germany. Of course, after all your leader, Hitler, has done for your country, it is to be expected from the German people. I admire your courage and straightforwardness, but it could get you in trouble with certain people, so keep your eyes open.

To everyone else: This war will continue for years if someone doesn't act soon. There are some people who need to step down - hint hint- and some who need to rise to the occasion.

In closing; my friends, times are even more trying and people's true colors are starting to show. Love your God, love your leader, and love your country. With this basis, we can't fail to accomplish the actions necessary to succeed.

Response

okay well to me it sounded like you were saying "Oh who cares about the Japanese" but okay....

Haha!

The Allies think they can beat the greatest military force ever to walk the earth? Germany, if anything, has the most powerful military I have ever witnessed on the field of combat. They are swift, strong, and above all; ruthless. They will stop at nothing to fight for the cause they believe in; Nazism and Germany's leader, Adolf Hitler. They will fight and die for their country. The Allies have no cause to fight for. They are simply scared and are trying desperately to put out a blazing fire with nothing but a squirt bottle. They have no cause! They simply fight because their leaders are afraid, afraid of change! Their leaders for so long have relied on the people's decisions to shape their governments, and they fear what they call "Facism and Nazism", but what do people know about governments and leadership? Why let common idiots decide things that they know nothing of instead of strong leaders like Adolf Hitler? The Allies do not realize it does not matter where they strike; Germany's armies are strong around the globe, be they in the desert, the ocean, the countryside, or even in Russia; Germany is strong everywhere, and the Allies are seriously underestimating Germany's military prowess if they believe that the Germans have a weak spot. It doesn't matter where the Allies hit; their hit will be nothing more than a pebble thrown at a massive wall.. an Atlantic Wall.

response

i am in europe and i do not give any care to the Japanese because they did not take my country that is for sure MY FRIEND! I have to deal with these nazis in Europe and take care for my men and for myself of course. I cannot bother with a war halfway around the world when i am in one arleady.

Response to i love galltets

Wow. Wow. Wow. Okay who cares about the Japanese??? Are you stupid!?!?!?!?! Clearly you are because the Japanese have done a lot, and looks to me like you have been in a cave this whole war. The Japanese totally KILLED the ships at Pearl Harbor. The Japanese are doing great in my opinion. So i don't know where your head is but you should be paying attention i love galletes. Please, get with the war.

Response to Editorial #4

Crazy Davy Jones - FDR was dead on when he said that you know your stuff. You have my support 110% and your troops are lucky that you have their back. In response to the editorial in general, I am with you! Puncture the underbelly! The Germans can finally get a taste of their own aggression. While it may not be the most direct approach, it is at least something. If nothing else, opening a front in North Africa and through Italy can distract German strength and distribute their lines too thin to mount any kind of formidable counter attack or offensive. At least then, we can use what became their Achilles heel in The Great War against them this time around.

Chocolate Cake - I have been trying to turn the other cheek to your hypnotic Nazi ramblings and I cannot bear them any longer! I cannot believe that you would think of Germany as anything more than a phase. They are simply trying to earn their 15 minutes of fame on the world stage by obliterating the lives of so many in their wake. I think you have been drinking too much Nazi Kool-Aid! Either that, or an operative with a "guilty-conscience"!

Dashboarder - While the ice-cream falling off of the side is a great comparison that I must agree with to some extent - what other approach could we take to begin mounting a real offensive towards Germany? Again, I think your logic is sound, but I am fearful of what will become of the Americans as they try to "learn" their way through the desert. They are learning to crawl in the desert while the Germans are learning to square dance. I'm afraid that the chances of the British and Yanks are slim in that arena.

you are stalling...

ha, you lazy americans. why do you even try to invade? germany will stand strong against any invasion. there is no point to your useless attempts to attack. you waste your soldiers, weapons, and resources on trying to avoid facing germany directly. hitler would take such thoughtless actions. while the allied powers are stalling and wasting their supplies, hitler continues to lead us with is strength and power. we will follow him anywhere, our loyalty everlasting. a world without hitler is not worth living in. and even if you were to try to break through the atlantic wall, you would never reach success. not with your strategy of trying to delay as long as possible. no one can ever stop hitler because he is so powerful and brave. he is our leader and i know i would do anything he told me to do.

Keep moving

I say they have to fight no matter what and no matter the casualties. They need to press onward or they will fail. ALSO Vichy is destroyed. Take that you sicophats! That will teach you! Also things are not so good over here. Germany is giving us tighter food rations and people who says or reads non German approved books and thoughts die or disappear. Help us!!!
i have been reading Leonardo's shadow. It is a great read

Ice Cream

I think that fighting in Africa is just eating the ice cream already in the cone and not the melted part spilling over the edges. We are focusing on the areas that aren't needed and are avoiding the places that need help. I don't think the Atlantic wall is the best place to start either, because the whole point of the wall is to keep invaders out! This would be a Charge of the Light Brigade. I believe that enough lives have been wasted. There needs to be more help in the areas already in heavy combat. Our own homes and yards are being destroyed. If no help comes, the Nazis will break even farther into the territory that we so passionately are trying to defend. Again, North Africa is not the way, but neither is the Atlantic wall.

Response to Editorial #4 and War Update

I cannot predict what will happen next, all I know is that what is happening with France and Germany seems pretty... fishy. However, we can never tell who may lash out next. Germany did it to the Soviets... Who knows what will happen next? Most of you are saying that this war is definitely capricious. I agree with this statement and hold to the fact that Hitler will not stop until he gets his way. Personally, I feel bad for Britain and Russia... How could anyone be so heartless as to murder the people of these countries? I can't even wrap my arms around the idea. As for the question 'Are the Allies doing something worthwhile,' I have no comment. Split between my opinion, there is nothing I can say. All I know is that the lives of many have been claimed by the Germans, and I am positive Hitler won't stop until he gets his "living space."

Puncture the underbelly!

We need to start our offensive and this is the plan to end it all. It is impossible to fail. We are attacking the weakest parts of Europe. they wont be ready and able to stop us if we come down through Africa and though the weak Italy. We must find victory somehow and this is the way i feel. if we have a troops ready to attack from other angles this would be the only benefit we could take. because if we are comming from the south they would start to fight in the south. leaving a northern area just waiting to be struck. I will stick by the allies in this mission to end Hitlor, the holocaust, and all the evil surrounding them

Work Will Make You Free

Brock Otter, there is some information that may interest you in Auschwitz. WORK WILL MAKE YOU FREE.

Editorial #4 America and Britain - On Target or Missing the Point?

May - 1943

In November, the Allied Powers including the United States and France attacked areas in Northern Africa containing both Germany’s AfrikaKorps and troops of Vichy France – those French who decided to sign armistice and “ally” with Germany after France was occupied by the Germans. When the British and Americans encountered the French, there was little to write home about. However, the Germans soon put up a massive fighting force against the allies at locations such as Kasserine Pass. Apparently, the goal is for these allied nations to puncture the “soft underbelly” of Europe to establish a stronghold and begin charging at Nazi Germany’s “empire".

The Daily Mirror’s question is this – Is this operation the be-all/end-all of operations or will it prove to be a pointless venture for the United States and Britain? Our stance is that the allies should not waste time trying to “beat around the bush” of Nazi occupied territory. We need to strike where it matters! - The Atlantic Wall. Our Prime Minister scoffs at the idea and says it’s too risky. Then what, in the name of all things sacred, are we doing having a go at the Germans in the desert?! Why does it even matter? My loyal readers, I want to hear your take!

Are the Allies doing something worthwhile or it is a waste of men and material?

why are GI's sent there? Anyone would answer that for me

My Update to my fellow bloggers.

I am just signing in to express the fears and concerns I have for how Hitler is acting. I would just like to say one quick thing, Hitler is becoming a powerful, influential leader. How influential really is Hitler? What will he tell his people next? What ideas will he stress to the world? Who will believe him?

I agree with Jean Biches Greater Cons.

At this point, I have no strongly swayed opinions on how the war is going, but one thing I do know for sure is that everyone should remember that Hitler is just a man. He is trying to find a safe way out of this mess that was brought upon the world as much as any man! But that doesn't mean he can brutally take over countries the way he is doing. Jean said Hitler shows power and control to stand up for his country but that doesn't give him the right to slaughter/slay masses of innocent lives. I agree. No one should be able to do that! How can he sit back and kill while he sits safe at home? What I say is that killing is unavoidable in war but if a war is to be fought, don't drag in innocent families...The entire world needs to remember to do one thing: Play fair...

In Response To Everyone:

I'm amazed at the conclusions people are jumping to. I did not mean to offend anyone in any way or even hint that I am in favor of murder. I said that it is not time to lament death, not that death of soldiers and such is good. I do not think that death is a good thing. On the contrary, I think we should try to prevent such killings of innocent people. Right now, we can't focus on death and those lost, but we must carry on and fight the good fight. There will be a time when some will mourn the losses of their beloved and others will mourn the loss of the life of power they once had, but today, we must not be hindered mentally by the physical state of our fellow countrymen. They have died for a cause so much bigger than themselves; an end to war and, ultimately, to make the world better for their children and all future generations. After all, one day we will meet them once more in the eternal kingdom.

The more recent events are somewhat fascinating, especially since certain groups are noticably diminished. I will watch to see if this evolves any futher. Regarding Japan and America, Japan definitely has the upper hand in this particulas series of battles since they know the land, layout, and climate. Mr. President, be careful, you may be a giant, but giants are slow.

My final word: love and trust the Lord, for He will guide you through these trying times.

johnnyBgoode

obviously i have a grudge

how would you feel if your country was destroyed in weeks? How would you feel if you are a repressed person by those blond, German speaking monsters who burns your workplace, shoots your boss and misteriously your close friend who is a JEW disappears? You will never understand because you are safe in your happy little island while i am on my own! Have a nice day.

Greater Consequences

America is fighting a war on two fronts, the Pacific theater and the Atlantic theater. Hope must surround them during their efforts in North Africa. They must wish “island hopping” is enough to defeat Japan. Hope must fill them in order to stay strong and not to fold under the pressure, detestation and massive losses they currently face and have undoubtedly yet to come.Britain has held strong, even under massive and constant bombing raids. May the Lord keep on giving them strength and courage, dedication to their country.Poland fired on the German troops. Does that not show they are provoking a war, provoking another tragedy?German citizens are vanishing, becoming lost in the chaos, also soldiers dying because of an unexplained attack from Poland. Hitler shows power and a willingness to stand up and help his country to gain back control and respect. To bring themselves, once again to power. But does this give him right to slaughter masses of innocent families? Slay innocent lives? As Brock Otter said, I hope not. --- If it has not already come true we must implore the mass power Hitler already has shown doesn’t drive him and his authoritative influence to an uncontrollable point. To a point that overwhelms and causes the world as we knew it to diminish. He is reaching for more living space, have the rest of us not accepted our land? Is Germany really becoming so overpopulated a war must be fought for more room. I don’t think that Germany owns special rights the rest of the world doesn’t.Life use to be simple, only small quarrels, resolved with at most raised voices, a few throws and fresh air. Then negotiations or compromises figured out. At the worst it came to a war, but nothing sizing up to the Great War. Over 17 million died for that war. I thought the world was in agreement, to ensure nothing would size up or even let there be a moment where this could happen again. What is now unfolding may be more than can be tamed. I am trying my best to help resolve the conflicts being clashed about, fighting alongside others, seeing many dedicated soldiers fall for what they believe but is this the answer? Have millions more die again, retracing our actions, pushing ourselves into a debt with payment like that of the Great War…or possibly more?

Response to News

Valkyrie?! j/k

Finally some answers as to what is really happening in these areas covered by German lightning War. I cannot say that I'm surprised as areas such as Russia and Germany have been so anti-Jew for decades. It seems that something is happening under the veil of coercion. Can't tell yet.

If the Nazis have even remotely the sort of resolve they demonstrated when bombing my back yard, implementing some program to the unwanted in their country might make sense. The news report said it all as we cannot rush to judgment. Clearly, the Nazi leader cannot be trusted within the lines that he has already extended. There must be a larger plan than immediately meets the eye.

Chocolate Cake seems to be under the methodical hypnosis of the Fuhrer. So, who is who? JohnnyBgoode - are you an "angel" of sorts? I Love Galletas - you seem to be holding a grudge! I Mow My Lawn... you have to be an AXIS sympathizer!

Keep Your Wits About You...

Information intercepted by British operatives containing the upcoming schedule and locations of the Fuhrer - Adolf Hitler.

Set it off! Now is the time to make an attempt on the life of Adolf Hitler. Will someone strike?

SO far so good

Yay the blond boys (Germans) are being pushed back by the GI's of the U.S. Take that Germans! How does it feel losing huh? huh? Second, these Vichy soldiers are either stupid or traitors. If they are traitors then why do they call themselves french people? They should be ashamed of themselves. Also the war is getting bloody. Mabye the war will not end in a few months.

The Daily Mirror - War Update - November 1942

America is moving. We are seeing the first response to Nazi Aggression since 1939. Yesterday, November 8th, British and American soldiers stormed the beaches of North Africa in Algiers. It was one of the first amphibious invasions focusing on being the first “crack” at German occupied territory. Americans were shocked to actually first see French soldiers who are fighting with the Germans under Vichy France – a group that signed an armistice with Germany when Northern France was taken.

Right now, British and American soldiers are trying to see if Vichy France’s troops will fire upon our allies in German held North Africa. The British and American soldiers targeted three major beach landings with very few casualties.

Now, the Americans under General Patton are facing off against the Germans and their legendary Erwin Rommel who has a dramatically advantageous understanding of desert combat over the Americans. It will be mere moments before the Americans and British collide for the first time with the Germans in the North African desert. The weight of the world is on their shoulders.

Meanwhile, Britain is still picking up the ashes of their own country after being bombed mercilessly for months on end. British civilian deaths were horrific and the British nation is calling for revenge.

In the East, the Germans are trying to gain what they call Lebenstraum or “living space” by pushing against the Soviet Armies in Stalingrad. Blood is flowing through the streets on both sides as the Russians are frantically trying to reinforce their armies and are sending wave upon wave against German machine gunners. The youth of the Red Army are being cut to bits by the Nazi Killing Machine.

In the Pacific, Americans are approaching a small island in Polynesia – Guadalcanal. This objective seems to be fairly non-threatening, but Americans will find out soon as they begin silent marches through the jungles of the island waiting to find the Japanese. The Americans are officially trying to “island hop” their way back across the Pacific Ocean to keep Imperialist Japan at bay.

The war is intensifying and spreading like a virus.

ODD...

We are gathering scattered reports regarding citizens in German occupied territory who are missing from their homes. Many of these individuals, interestingly enough, seem to be musicians, writers, artists... Jews.

We do not have enough information to currently piece together a cohesive report.

Hmm

Denmark and Finland.. taken by Germany and the Soviets. Well, I can see why this is an obvious strategic move. They were close to Poland, and Poland is filled a bunch of rowdy individuals who think it is morally okay to fire on innocent German troops. Poland could have been in cahoots with Finland and Denmark for all we know and they could have been planning an attack on Germany and the Soviets. I can't blame Germany for fighting back against these aggressors who constantly threaten her boarders. Germany invading Britain and France? Huh. Well heck, Britain had been mobilizing for a long time. Their blowhard leader Winston Churchill seems nothing but talk and fancy suits speaking of how the British Empire is the strongest in Europe. Maybe he had this coming to him. Same with France who just lives in Churchill and England's shadow. And America.. they never seem to do anything. They constantly talk of helping the European effort but all they do is sit around and spectate the whole thing like its a baseball game.

Response

Okay Brock Otter, I don't think that Hitler is crushing whatever country he wants! He's just trying to pull his nation together. I also don't think he's afraid of being weak. He definitely can handle the power! Have you seen what he's done? But all though many countries have had many defeats against him he still doesn't give up... Now do I like Hitler? Not so much. But I think he's a pretty good leader... Many of you may not but I sort of do... Don't take this the wrong way that I'm "all for Hitler"... It's just a thought...

freedom speech

Friends, Comrades, soldiers, this is a troubling year for all of us but however everyone of us have to suffer against thy tyrrany of the Axis powers. To Hitler, Mussolini, Tojo, you will not live forever and every empire must and will crumble even if it takes a hundred years. To Churchill, F.D.R and Joseph Stalin, you must still fight for the people around the world to preserve democracy, freedom and our lives. To every soldier in the Allies, fight on! Fight until your gas in your tanks are empty, until your rounds are gone and then we fight with tooth and nail! Democracy will always and shall win this war!

wont take no for an answer

Hitler is being a leader who will not take no for an answer. is that such a bad thing? would you rather have a weak leader who will let someone else step all over you? he is assuring that his country will stand strong in the time of disaster. in my eyes, hitler is a leader who will lead our country to greatness. the league of nations tried to cripple us... and now we want to show that we will not be that easily defeated.

To: JonnyBGoode

I never said anything about my views on Hitler staging an attack just to take Poland. I was just defending myself on why people such as yourself, should care about the loss of lives no matter how many are lost.

... and, furthermore you were the one who started this by asking why I value human life.

Just some of my views

Hitler may be a powerful dictator but that doesn't mean all morals go out the window... Maybe Hitler isn't just afraid of being proved weak, but he can also not handle the power. Does power mean automatic justification for crushing whoever and whatever country you want?! I hope not...

Editorial #3 Response

Once a powerful, fierce country that could be even possibly be looked up to, Germany is now spiraling into a frightening craving for power. I think we all should be scared of what Hitler will choose to do next. Who will he decide to kill?! Who will he  choose next to kill?! But like the Great War, it will eventually end and hopefully solve something. Whether it is Hitler will be defeated and the world can live in peace, or that Hitler will get what he wants and leave the innocent civilians and families alone.

In response to ALERT ALERT - September 1, 1939

I think that if anyone says that this war doesn't leave them completely baffled, they are lying! There can be two sides to this attack on Germany brought to them by the Polish: 1. It is understandable why they would want to attack, they had just had their uniforms stolen! But also 2. The Polish are showing that they are just as low as the Germans. If they stoop to the level of the Germans, retaliating in the face of defeat, it will lead to another extremist country. Another thing that leaves me wondering is: why does the war have to be fought in such a crazy, counter-attack way or even more, why does it have to be fought at all?! Don't you all have better things in your own personal lives that you would like to get on with instead of being dragged into another war we have been trying to prevent?!

To: JonnyBGoode

Does the spill of blood have to be in a large, horrid amount for you to value anything of it? One human taking another humans life is enough of a tragedy to weep about. So if my caring for any amount of death is upsetting you, I sincerely apologize.

Response to FDR's Fireside Chat

(pounds fist on table)... HERE HERE!!

The arsenal of democracy had better react quickly. JohnnyBGoode is squabbling about what evidence has been found of German aggression. Clearly, this person has been hypnotized by their own illusions of power for the past 2 years! The evidence is in the flesh. The bodies of the dead fill the rivers and farmland of France as British and French regiments were raked down by the Nazi Machine. The English Channel was a sea of vessels evacuating troops from Dunkirk and still people call for "evidence". The bombs of the Luftwaffe scream through the night sky in Britain and still we call for "evidence"? What a killing joke.

FDR - What are your plans? When will this arsenal react to the European Theater? Must I remind you of the two declarations of war you received just after declaring war on Japan? You are fighting a war on two fronts, my friend. I too wish to see democracy prevail, but it will take action. How would democracy dream of penetrating a formidable force like the Atlantic Wall? The survival of any shred of democracy in a future Europe depends upon this arsenal acting now!

Light the "torch"!

to Sillyputty Jackson:

What time are you stuck in? From what I have heard, Germany has just taken Poland out of self-defense, and may have started on France for good measure. The loss of many lives? Really? I do not think it is time to lament a few deaths for a greater purpose. In fact, if you are so worried about everyone and so willing to criticize Europe, why aren't you fighting like so many faithful others who have a cause bigger then themselves? Just because America declared war doesn't actually mean that they have done anything else than sign a piece of paper. So go talk to Mr. President and get him to mobilize if it means that much to you, but please, don't criticize us when you have done nothing.

Response to Editorial #3

The loss of lives is unbearable, and now the end is near. So many lives are being lost and with each new death, a life given in WWI are given in vain. It is funny how ironic the world is, the League of Nations was created to uphold peace but their brutality towards Germany left the Germans crippled and desperate allowing the cause for more deaths to come into a role of power. It is the power and control we seek that corrupts us, just like the League of Nations and their misfortune the human ignorance and disrespect for all life has led us to more destruction and devastation.

In our darkest hour morals go astray,
for the World's strength I pray...

Germany not only needs guidance but the rest of us as well. But we must be the ones to deliver Justice so we can only hope we do not lose ourselves in the process of saving ourselves.

Response to Editorial #1

After the League of Nations crippled Germany, I think it is good Germany is recovering and able to place faith in a promising leader. We do not know what is happening and we should not judge them before we do get to know them, it is purely hypocritical to be saying that Germany isn't aloud to try and pull themselves back up when the League of Nations-trying to preserve peace- were the ones who destroyed Germany going against there peace campaign. It is just poor judgment to get scared because people want to live a better life, so until Germany proves us wrong we are in no position to judge.
The reason we are so scared of Germany is because we know punishing them like this was wrong, and were hoping they will not hold a grudge so we are ready to be snippy about every detail that we don't agree with.

Perpare!

I knew Germany could never be trusted. Now we must prepare for anything.

Response to Editorial #3

Will Germany ever cease? Hitler is obviously a bloodthirsty leader who can't get enough power to meet his approval. How many lives can this crazed 'leader' take before he is satisfied? Japan, on the other hand, is most likely scared that they will be attacked, so they make their move now. Is everybody as confused as I am? I'm pondering if there is anybody who thinks the same way as I do about the continued hostility coming from Germany. Leading into the events that followed. How many more will Germany take? I am weary, for I cannot trust anyone. In my opinion, the weaker countries are represented as twigs, sticks that Germany thinks they can break with the slightest touch. Underestimating the power of these countries can lead to fatal decisions. I guess we just have to sit back and let everything unravel, praying that everything will be okay.
The americans, they set a new low standard for themselves. why they just sit around and wait is crazy. Why they are not helping there own allies is beyond me, but they are just americans what do you expect. Also, Hitler is just doing what any leader would do, make his country bigger. giving your people ,"living space," is What any good leader will do.

Really???

Germany invade France??? I think we should call for an investigation to futher look into the matter because it is possible communication were lost between France and Britian. At this point do we really know who is fighting who? I will reserve my judgement until after I see government papers showing that Germany has indeed attacked France.

And Pearl Harbor, not much as been said about that. How do you feel now, Mr. President? A sleeping giant!? Obviously while you were "snoozing" someone snuck up and hit you where it hurts. Amazing how such a tiny country can take so much with one strike. You might respond We were sleeping or It was a Sunday but before you do, consider this; if Japan had attacked on a Tuesday at lunchtime, would it have made a difference? Ouch, Mr. President.

Yay

finally FDR had put on their war boots on a fight against tyranny around the world. FDR you have my gun and my loyalty to your GI'S.

my country fallen

My fellow friends, i is with great sadness that i say that we have fallen to those German Butchers who right now pillage our lands, take our friends away and divide our lands to those traitors led by Petain who thinks appeasment will help but it wont. I cannot believe America does not have the guts to fight the tyrants! They will not escape our fate for soon they could fall and who will dare fight Hitler. Russia? Japan? NO!! Which is way i listened to De Gaulle who encouraged us to resist and resist with my friends i will. "The flames of resistance will and shall not die." De Gaulle I may not survive but i die in freedom then in a cage.

URGENT UPDATE - The Daily Mirror 12_9_41

A state of war now exists between the United States and Japan.

An operative - Jellothere 12 - has reported the December 7th Attack.

Be cautious of the spies around us!

Editorial #3 - From One Nightmare to Another - October_1941

We live in a world that it was thought inconceivable to start another general war in Europe after the crisis of 1914. We now find Europe in a state of general war. The world held its breath as Germany and the Soviet Union began tearing into Poland with heavy artillery, heavy infantry, and air support. We all held our breath to see what would happen next. It has now become apparent that whatever Gleiwitz incident occurred with “Polish” troops firing upon Germans, it was staged by greater motives that wished to soak up Polish independence as soon as possible. It is clear, once again, that we were naïve enough to believe that Hitler would stop at only Czechoslovakia or even Poland.

Germany is on the march again. This time they are moving west. They have quickly taken Norway and Denmark. They penetrated the Maginot Line held by Britain and France in a matter of days. Everyone had predicted another stalemate on trench riddled soil, but it did not and will not happen. British and French troops frantically tried to avoid Hitler’s blood machine known as Blitzkrieg. They have evacuated France.

Hitler has now taken his war a step further - he is mercilessly bombing London and has broken his Nazi-Soviet pact.

Finally, some real answers.

Western Europe is Nazi occupied - Our world is on fire. Germany, there will be blood!

My friends, not three decades later, we have proven that 20 million people died in vain in the Great War. Europe is now embroiled into general war.

Meanwhile, America sleeps. They are rightfully earning their respective 1918 nickname as a society of “Doughboys”. It seems that America cannot quite come to grips with the very real consequences of a Nazi occupied Europe. Our League of Nations was crippled at birth without their “promised” membership.
Is America asleep at the wheel?

Ladies and Gentlemen, what is the next roll of the dice?

We must fight

For the men and woman of our country I believe we all should stand up for what we believe in and take a stand. To protect and comfort those in need and if that means killing them for saving innocent lives then so be it. I will do whatever it takes to stand by those in need and never give up on them. We must fight till the people we love and others are safe and free.

The secret of happiness is freedom and love. The secret of freedom and love is courage.

Ethan Samston

Response to all. A fact forgotten.

You all argue like babies fighting over a pinatas. So many arguments over little things. You all didn't grow up through a tough, strong, and demanding life. It is this kind of life that turns a boy or girl into a man or woman. It the discipline of these men and women that enable them to lead a country to its rightful rank and potential. This goes to everyone except FDR, Crazy Jones, Faust Arp, and Samston.

Anyway, I find that Germany is very suspicious in all this matter, but our country has not cocked our guns yet. We can trust the Germans for now. I wish to place a fact to the rest of the world that I believe has been over looked. After WWI , the Treaty of Versailles and the League of Nations were both created to ensure that Germany nor any other country would be able to have a lethal advantage over another, and that peace would be protected forever. The treaty was to make sure that Germany would never be a 'Big Dog' ever again. Germany was supposed to be reduced to a pulp that would never heal without the League of Nations' watching their every move. Has all of this been followed through? We are looking now at who is at fault for the Polish-German conflict with just the facts that are happening right now in front of us. We have forgotten that Germany's power, ability to fight, and ranking among the other world powers was never supposed to happen in the first place. We see Poland as the aggressor because they attacked first, or we see common traits in Germany to our own countries' traits and we respect their choices. We don't see that Germany should never have had this respect and that they are a 10-out-of-10 heavily possible threat proven by the fact that they completely demolished every ban, restriction, or law placed on them after WWI. I hope that you will all see that Germany is truly something to be watchful of and that we all show some active and passionate attention to them.

I will stand behind my leader and do what I am told. I am ready to defend, attack, or be on standby for whatever events place themselves in front of us.

Attack....

Hello everyone. I have some news... Pearl Harbor had a surprise attack by the Japanese on this day of December 7th, 1941. Now, the U.S. Navy is crippled.

Now is this good? Is this bad? Maybe? Yes? No? Hmmmmm.......

poland attacked first

i don't see what germany is doing wrong in this whole thing. poland attacked them. what was germany supposed to do? sit around while the polish try to invade? no way! poland attacked germany, and germany would never stoop low enough as to stage an event. this is not germany's fault.

apologies

i am first sorry for i was rash in my burning but my father fought in the mud and spoke of the horrors by the germans. I have a big temper runs in the family. But attacking Poland and did you see that picture despite it was not that good resolution. That person carrying a baby was a CIVILIAN. Is it fair to kill women and children. Soldiers i understand, it is war, but civilians?! Unspeakable! I appologize and what are you talking about a Holocaust? What do you mean? Talk to me later about this.+

Our Job

Hello, under my study of this debate and conflict I feel even more alone that I have before. In times of crisis where we all fight for our survival. Our job out there is to end this and to save everyone we can as we go along, to protect people of this nation as one, and fight to keep them alive. As the war progresses I find it more difficult for us to be able to do our job.

Sincerely, Ethan Samston

Rash Assumptions?

i love galletas, I think you are making some very serious accusations, not to mention talking of burning innocent Germans. You go too far. It is one thing to say that you have a guess or a hunch, but another thing entirely to threaten to murder German civilians, to burn no less. Get your facts straight, galletas, and try not to provoke Germany because Adolf Hitler is extremely powerful. And, please, we all know Poland was just being spacey and probably didn't even intend to engage in combat with Germany, so calm down.
To Franklin Delano Roosevelt, you are also quick to make assumption about people, as well. Especially i love galletas, look at the facts, (s)hes only interested in sailors because (s)hes a European librarian. What a lonely life...

makes sense

This is an obvious thing! The uniforms were for disguising their soldiers to Poland for an invasion and Germany has been quiet until today! Those treacherous, Kraut eating, Nazis! We should burn a dozen times Germany with every one in there! But hey the war should end soon with our determination and god is in our side. No one can defeat us. The Americans will help us!9+

Hoping fighting the fire with only buckets at hand will be enough

The war that was wagered to start has now started. It is not understood why Poland would attack Germany. There may have been unknown quarrels between them but even so why attack? Everyone is still recovering from the Great War, who would be stupid enough and what would cause these two countries to have such intolerable feelings that they would be willing to risk beginning something that could easily become as devastating as before? One could believe they are provoking and trying to bring another war to show they can win without help and prove their power but starting another destructive event to tarnish the history of the world is almost immoral. Events may have played out that no one is aware of but that doesn’t change the fact that this attack that happened may have unforgettable affects. Even if it is between Poland and Germany countries will come to back up the troops, alliances formed. America will wish to stay neutral but even they will be likely to build their forces, ready to become involved or attacked. It is hoped that everyone will try to resolve this issue to the best of their abilities before another Great War can take place.

FIRESIDE CHAT #1 from PRESIDENT ROOSEVELT

My fellow Americans, once again we are on the eve of historic events. As our "neighbor's houses" catch fire, we must be careful that the flames do not consume our own. I have been reading a fascinating correspondence, and would like to now send out some comments in response:

To Chocolate Cake: I am amazed that you would call the Rape of Nanking "heroic". Your very words make me not trust you... either that or you are insensitive beyond humanity. I wonder what your real game is.

To Not Here Yet 002: You ask why the League of Nations is not helping, and yet you and other Americans voted to keep us OUT OF THE LEAGUE OF NATIONS. Would it be appropriate to call your stance hypocritical? Unless... you are a British operative, which I highly doubt.

To Foxtrot Zulu: It is hard to call any nation "worst ever". I would not be surprised to find that some people of the future will think of America as so monstrous that they would fly airplanes into our buildings. I do agree that Japan's actions are reprehensible. But as your President, I think our focus must be on Europe. The German military machine is vastly superior and is poised to roll over France, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, and many others. My sources say that Japan is very low on precious gasoline and will not last much longer.

To Mow My Lawn: Who cares about Manchuria? It has some of the richest mineral deposits on earth - including oil! Be careful Lawn. When your neighbor's grass is scorched, yours will soon be next.

To Jello: Ugly war or Good war? Stop waffling and get a backbone. It will soon be time for every American to stand up in defense of innocents.

To Galletas: I find it interesting that your greatest interest is in sailors. I wonder if you and Cake are in cahoots.

To Crazy Dave Jones: You are not so crazy. Your advice is sound - do not be aggressive, but be ready for aggression. I would like you to work on my cabinet.

And To JohnnyB: You are right my friend. Ill-prepared is weakness, and the American people are weak. But it takes much to kill a giant, and anyone foolish enough to attempt it had better make it a killing stroke.

My friends, a great cloud is enveloping our planet, just as in WWI. There will be nowhere to hide. Americans must be ready to serve as the "Arsenal of Democracy." We must build weapons and arm ourselves and our allies, or else the dictators of the Axis powers will choke freedom.

What's the Next Move?

I know that since Britain and France are both informally allied with Poland, they too, are now required to fight Germany. Do you really think that it is wise; three war-torn countries (one, Poland, being the actual aggressor) fighting against Germany; recently re-outfitted with all new gear and weaponry? I'm not suggesting anything other than a try at negotiations with Germany since Britain, France, and Poland aren't capable of beating Germany right now. Maybe some other arrangement could be reached that wouldn't involve the loss of hundreds or thousands of innocent people. Hitler may be an etremist, but that doesn't mean he won't be fair. After all, you won't know until you try...
They want to controle more land, thats understandable.
But torturing and killing their own people, thats somthing to be worried about. It is very probable that there could be anothe civil war. And if that happens then other countries will have to aid them. And if that happens then nations will be pinned on eachother, starting another world war. thats somthing to be worried about.

ALERT ALERT - September 1, 1939

Poland has recently engaged in an armed incident with Germany and the Soviet Union on September 1st. Apparently, Polish soldiers were the first to open fire on the German soliders. It appears they are currently running short in living space.

Posted by JohnnyBgoode.

Shocking news - The Daily Mirror is awaiting our own country's reaction as well as the reaction of France as we have both promised Poland some degree of security should their independence ever be jeopardized.

We are still receiving news on the incident in progress.

Germany is on the March! May our Polish brothers and sisters find peace.

A Couple of Finer Points...

Firstly, to Not Here Yet002, i love galletas is obviously from France and they did expand somewhat into North America (Canada). I think that this whole thing with Japan is being blown so very out of porportion because they aren't harming any of us. In fact, if they want to go ahead and take all of China, let them because obviously they are the stronger country. Regarding the issues surrounding the treatment of civilians, there is not acutal proof that anyone has been raped or even executed in an orderly fashion. As I Mow My Lawn With a Lamp said, killing civilians is part of war. As far as the rest of the events, if things keep happening at this rate, there will be a conflict very soon, so everyone better be ready. Keep your faith in God and your country!

They are kind of 'low-lives' they are attacking a country for no reason at all! They are even abusing the towns people who live there. Why should they be furious, because America stopped trading with them? That's no reason go get it from another country or something problem solved!

I Love Galletas I don't think they expanded into North America... and sorry that your father taught you to have trust issues.

The time for decisions

the Japanese are not just in any way. the fear now is that they are trying to pose as threat to the rest of the world. what if Germany notices this? this could make for a lethal ally between the two, being what would seem like an unstoppable power. We need to be strong and up hold peace right now. we don't want another "great war" the Japanese need to understand the atrocities that world war I had on us. Do they have any idea? Men and women just killed over the need for power, that not what this world need now. There is not just reason to go into China and and kill children. life isn't something we can just throw away. I in no way want to go against my country's beliefs, but should we start getting ready for attack. taking a defensive stand not an attacking. in case a Japanese attack. We should take no aggression, but should prepare for aggression against us

response to everyone

First off Japan is a villain because they are taking land which is not that bad but killing civilians? That is another thing my friends and rivals. We expanded to Africa, North America and Asia but even though we discriminated a little bit of the population, we did not massacre the population. However they got nothing from this world war and they should get some cake from the superpowers. This is a direct violation of International Law made by the Geneva Convention. Also exposing their big guns (ships and planes) to tourists in Hawaii is not a good idea. Someone may sabotage them and you never trust anyone and that is what my father taught me to do. But i suppose those sailors are single and have their phone numbers. (wink wink wink) But if i had a secret weapon i would keep it secret.

Really???

Hello. Okay what are you guys saying?! Okay first off, the Japanese are not really having "Low lives". And attacking your brother may be wrong, but are we really brothers in this war? I don't think so. Low lives? The Japanese are furious right now and they want to go to war. Now this may be a good thing, or this could lead to a bad thing. We could win or we could lose this war everyone. Now i don't very well believe that Japan is the worst group ever. This could be a very ugly war, or this could be a good war. Who knows where this will be and who knows where this will take us?? Will we ever know????

Japan

Let the Japanese do as they wish. If they want to wage war in Manchuria, who cares? It has nothing to do with the U.S.A, Germany, or the rest of Europe. Executing civilians, eh, all is fair in war is it not? Personally I do not approve of murdering an innocent, but, war is war, nothing changes that, and so there will be brutality. In any case, Japan's aggression towards China is nothing new; the two countries never got along. The League of Nations should try to intervene if they are so interested in settling conflicts like they say they are, to me it seems like they talk a big game but don't back it up. Oh well, only time can tell what Japan will do with their little conflict in China.

Recents Events...

I don't disagree with all that Japan has done to increase its space, after all, what about "Divine Providence"? Not that I believe in Divine Providence myself. Oh no, I much prefer the idea of territorial expansion simply because you are powerful enough to do so. On that note, I have been told that Poland has recently engaged in an armed incident with Germany and the Soviet Union on September 1st. Apparently, Polish soldiers were the first to open fire on the German soliders. It appears they are currently running short in living space, for those of you who are interested.
I find it odd that Poland, a new and minimally armed country, would ever want to start a conflict with the Germans who are infinitely more powerful. I will watch this plot unfurl, but I know, if provoked, Adolf Hitler will not hesitate to go to war with as many countries as it takes for Germany to win.

Recent events aside, I would like to remind Franklin Delano Roosevelt that even a giant, while sleeping, is very vulnerable. So, Mr. President, you could be the largest, most well-armed military in the world, but if you are not ready to mobilize at a moments' notice, you are weak.

Japan - Hero or Villan

Japan may be the worst bunch of people ever. if they attack another country, they are no better than Germany. how can we expect to bring together the world's nations if we keep fighting our brothers? Japan just needs to chill out. if they attack anybody else, they will be in deep trouble. just try to get anymore land, you low-lives. get a hobby, other than attacking your brother nations.

Response to Editorial #2 and Update.

The Japanese are a bunch of low lives. What is the point of attacking another country that has done nothing to you? What is the point of attacking another country at all? Japan even fought along side China in the first great war. It's like attacking your brother, you just don't do that. Well that wasn't the case with my grandfather according to my father. Here is another question where is the League of Nations in all of this? Nowhere. That's what we thought. They don't do anything they just sit around. I'm not surprised that Japan has decided to no longer be apart of The League. I do not understand the point of it anyway. Is it to punish Germany for something that they did not fully do?

Tourists are no fun to deal with. They just ask questions and get themselves into trouble with the locals. I wonder why it is increasing mostly by the naval bases? There is most likely nothing to see there. Of course since it's a rival other countries are most likely jealous. The only bad thing that can happen is the tourists.

If you have figured out who I am I would not like any comment or response about it. Just keep it to yourself. I don't want it to be broadcasted to the world, plus you want to be the one who gets the extra-credit right?

japan is the hero

japan is heroic and courageous for what they are doing. they realize how germany is gaining power and strength by expanding country. they admire germany's power and strategy, so they decided to copy it. you see, japan and germany have the same value: loyalty to your country before yourself. germany is loyal by raising their children as soldiers from a young age. japanese kamikaze pilots are so loyal they are willing to sacrifice themselves for their country. i think this is very admirable and brave of them. i know that i am loyal to our great country and its leader. japan could serve as a loyal ally to germany. if japan wants to sit at the table with the "big dogs," thats fine and we will let them... as long as they submit to the alpha dog, germany. however, if japan or any other country challenges germany's authority, hitler will send them running with their tail between their legs.

DO NOT AWAKEN US, JOHNNYBGOODE

My Cousin Teddy was famous for saying, "Walk softly and carry a big stick."

My fellow Americans, it is time for the stick. The Daily Mirror hints at "atrocities" in China. I have before me, intelligence reports that say between 20,000 to 80,000 women have been raped by Japanese soldiers in the city of Nanking. These same reports say that the Japanese army is systematically - SYSTEMATICALLY - executing Chinese citizens. Estimates run as high as 300,000 people.

America cannot ally itself with a country that commits atrocities on innocent civilians, and then calls it "war." I am submitting a plan to Congress that will allow our country to arm our Chinese allies. I have contacted Premier Chiang Kai-Shek to open negotiations.

A word to "JohnnybGoode". Do not make the same mistake our British brothers did in 1776. Do not think us weak. We are "sleeping" now. But if you awaken us, you will find the American people a powerful, terrible foe.

Response to Editorial

Japan was once a friend and now a foe - well...technically I suppose. They entered the LoN only to, as the editor said, take a completely different standpoint and role in the world by drawing blood of the innocent.

Times are difficult and trivial and how we are supposed to absorb the new ways of East Asia and Europe are difficult ideas to wrap one's head around. We live in a world today of insecure nations who are all fighting for their place in the world. The only thing we can do is react. To respond first is a crucial and fundamental error. It is better to wait and react than to act first and be illustrated as the villain in the future. We continue to campaign to stronger nations in the West for support as we linger about waiting for crumbs to fall from their table and hoping that someone will intervene.

The single most essential tool we have is the power, will, and determination of our own people. That is a virtue that must be taken from our lifeless hands but will never be given willingly.

Coercive persuasion will not prevail and Japan is a villain.

Editorial #2 Japan - Hero or Villain?

In the resolution of The Great War in 1918-19, Japan assumed a role of a League of Nations Crutch as it was more of a supporting role as opposed to a headlining role. It felt, as many nations felt after The Great War, that it had not received the appropriate amounts of compensation and reward from being on the side of the victors.
As new lands and boundaries were carved and as incredibly harsh punishments were dealt out to Germany, Japan continued to resign itself to a supportive role of a newly formed League of Nations. In the end, no country on the side of the victors, apart from America, felt satisfied with the results which have obviously brought new tensions throughout the Eurasian region in recent times.
Since, Japan has aggressively re-vamped her policy on military and imperialism. It seems that this small country has the sincere desire to sit at the “Big Dog” table with other major powers.
It is at this point that Japan’s most recent actions in the last 10 years must be examined. In 1931, Japan kicked away her ties to the League of Nation’s by doing nothing less than launching an aggressive invasion of Manchuria, a province of China. This invasion, obviously, did not have the approval of the League of Nations, but no action was taken. Now, Japan is invading China and committing atrocities to soldiers and citizens alike that are unmentionable in a public newspaper. Yet, people aligned with Japan sing her praises for now being among the new roundtable of dictators and military-driven heads of state. I ask you, my loyal readers, is Japan proving to be a hero or a villain in our world today?

The Daily Mirror - Update

In other news, there has been a recent increase in tourism to the Hawaiian Islands. The United States is boasting about an increase in revenue especially from tourism near their naval base. Apparently, they now don a naval project rivaling many of the nations in Europe.

response to everyone

we should be careful about Poland's missing uniforms. Poland is close to Germany and the Soviet Union and could be a good link between the two superpowers. However it is not that bad because it is uniforms not gold or wpm's. Perhaps someone needed them to make a heist in the treasury or to smuggle in goods. But something is not right. However this is a minor thing since poland is new and who wants poland? Need to go got a customer looking for a book. Gaalletas out

Response to BREAKING NEWS!!

That doesn't seem like a big problem right now. They are just a couple of uniforms. What could someone possibly do with just a few uniforms? They cannot possibly have any worth to them, Poland is a new country. And they are most likely just as uncomfortable as ours. Are you sure they were stolen? Sometimes items can get misplaced, or even miscounted. I know that happens a lot where I am. We think we don't have the item we need and then we recount and they're there. But they most likely didn't count again cause those soldiers are just like that. It's just a few uniforms anyway. It's not like a country depends on it. They are usually cheaply made too. I am getting off subject. I just don't see how this is important, and will affect anything in time, well at least I think.

If you have figured out who I am I would not like any comment or response about it. Just keep it to yourself. I don't want it to be broadcasted to the world, plus you want to be the one who gets the extra-credit right?

False acussations lead to trouble

Brock Otter: Hitler may have more plans but he may not. You have not given proof, nor has anyone else, that it was Germany who took the uniforms and supplies. A different country may have taken them. For all we know Poland is trying to stir up trouble or they simply misplaced them.

JohnnyBgoode: This is a bit late and now off topic but you say America is weak and doesn't want to fight. All the countries involved in the previous war are weak. Economies everywhere are a mess and after the war that was only a small time ago who would be willing to go and jump back into another? Especially after all the terrible losses and broken state it left everyone in.

It is smart to stay alert at this time but don't become paranoid. The surest way to cause conflict is for people to make acussations without having proof.

In response to Editorial #1 and Missing Polish uniforms, etc.

Haven't heard much around here about the news of the war, although people are getting a bit nervous... In my opinion, I see the missing uniforms, artillery, etc. as a threat to the Polish people. Hitler has a theme going as I can see. He is after more than just Czechoslovakia. Hitler's plans are becoming more and more apparent. He is looking to expand the German land. We should all have some fear of what war plan is coming next into Hitler's unpredictable and twisted mind. Who is next?
The economy here isn't great. Work is hard to find. Many even say it is like it what before the great war. Food is scarce and some people are closing down their shops. But for now, I plan to continue on my everyday routine. Does Hitler expect that his views are so revolutionary that they change the world he is trying to take over forever!? But one thing more thing I continue to fear is that his ways will change others views to the point of no return...
More later...

reasons behind the uniforms?

missing uniforms, how strange. it would seem that someone wasn't watching their supplies very closely. stranger still is the fact that there were uniforms just lying out. maybe this is because poland is planning something. something related to military action that would require one to wear a uniform. i shall watch the situation very closely because soon enough, we might have a conflict on our hands. why poland would need to fight is quite beyond me, but you can never be sure about these things. im sure that the nearby countries with leaders like winston churchill and adolf hilter are prepared for anything, but since the devastation of the great war, some countries' armies appear to be greatly depleted. germany seems to be the only country with substantial military power. interesting. as always, i will remind everyone to have faith in jesus christ, trust in the authorities, and love for our homeland.

Missing Uniforms?

This missing uniforms crisis is, in all honesty, extremely hilarious. How could the Polish just allow their precious uniforms and weaponry to be lost? How could they be so careless?!?! It boggles my mind. Oh well. Oh and on a side-note, my dearest friend , I would love to share a letter passed from a comrade of mine with you. It was the most moving letter I had ever read, and I have a copy I should like to share with you. If you could meet me Thursday (tomorrow) at the location "Stalingrad" around say 10:30a.m I'd be greatly appreciative.

Anyway, this Polish uniforms crisis is, to say the least, a complete act of stupidity on the Polish people's part, but I believe it will work itself out. If they lost the information that easily, they should be able to get it back that easily. Anyway, I have said all I need to say, Mow my lawn, signing out.

SUSPICIOUS

I too find this suspicious. I can't imagine how someone would steal so many uniforms. I especially can't see why. But I trust our leader to figure out what is going on. He saved us from baddest of bad before. I think that this many uniforms stolen wouldn't be something done by some public vandals, but it might just be part of a larger scheme. My proof is because MILITARY uniforms aren't anywhere near the top of popular items stolen, and someone doesn’t steal as many as are were stolen. That is just too many to count. Therefore, someone strong must be behind this plot. The biggest problem that keeps coming to me is why would anyone want to steal. It is something I grew up learning was just... bad. I would feel extremely sad to know something that close to me was just taken. I hope all the other countries and their leaders are noticing this problem. It isn't something I think should be overlooked. I especially want to know who is researching this problem. You learn to love what makes you proud. And sometimes that thing can be something little or unseen.

Dashboarder

Which idiot would take uniforms

Who would like to steal uniforms when they could sew them and use them to steal gold or weapons. But how could the polish have done nothing? They must be a pathetic military unlike ours. We would fight to the death for our lands even if it costs a piece of ourselves and our things we love. But who would steal uniforms unless if they are trying to attack the country or worse... There is only one way to find out.

Missing Polish Uniforms

the polish uniforms were taken for a reason. if you wanted to stage an attack, you would need a great plan. the only question is who would take them. if the best country took them, they would have a great plan of attack. but, only the leader of that country would know what they would want to do. the only question that comes to mind is how could a country steal an other's army uniforms?

respect hitler

the other countries are listening to hitler because they respect him. they realize his admirable leadership and they know that most of the things he does are for the best of everyone. take czechslovakia for example. they were a weak country without enough strength to defend themselves. what's the point of even being a country if you cant defend yourself? now, by occupying the country, hitler has made czechslovakia stronger with the support of germany. hitler made a good decision by doing this, and he knew that from the start it was for the best of everybody. hitler is a heroic leader, because he strengthened germany, and now he has helped czechslovakia. czechslovakia should know they are lucky to have such a powerful country running their country, because im sure that hitler will make czechslovakia better than ever before. hitler is a genius, and shouldn't be getting so much critcism from everyone else for trying to help another country as well as his own.

The Daily Mirror - BREAKING NEWS!!

AUGUST_30_1939

Oddly enough, scattered reports have been surfacing regarding the apparent loss or theft of Polish Military Uniforms. Several arming stations are reporting shortages of garment supply in Poland. Officer's uniforms, infantry uniforms, and Polish Weapons have been reported missing from the arming stations so far.

More to come later...

Watchful and Wary Eyes

I agree that America is having her own issues. For America the focus should be on ensuring they are stable before jumping into a war and forgetting her issues. However they should still be alert and ready for the unexpected.
All countries should be cautious yet they should not make too many assumptions. Nobody knows Hitler’s plans. Whether his goal was to only take Czechoslovakia or he is plotting to take more. What was his purpose in taking Czechoslovakia? Did he fulfill his ambitions? Only time and patience will tell if he has more ambitions or has gotten what he aimed for. Always be vigilant, ready for anything.

us neutrality

if the us has all its claims to have, it should be ready for war. why then, does it stay neutral? because it is weak, and it doesn't want to fight any truly powerful countries that are acutally capable of winning. though it might have a good army and strong leaders, the people are weak. at the very least president roosevelt knows that america cant win any wars at the present time. what does this say about americas pollitical situation? to the rest of the world, at least after ww1, america seemed like the savior; the leader. how does she look now, too scared to stand up for herself. to scared to stand up for her allies. heres your hero.

AMERICA - Friends at a Distance

There is no need to remind you, my fellow Americans, that our country has enough problems of her own. As we work to rebuild our country from a devastating depression, we must be careful of "foreign entanglements" - good advice from President Washington. That said, we can only look at the world and see storm clouds gathering:
  1. Japan has attacked our ally, China. The atrocities we hear of in Nanking are troubling.
  2. Italy has slaughtered thousands of innocent Ethiopians... and need I remind you that the leader of Italy, Benito Mussolini, is a political ally of Adolph Hitler.
  3. And what about Hitler. He claims Czechoslovakia is German and belongs to Germany. And he threatens to back it up with force.
So what do we do? We become the "Arsenal of Democracy". We send weapons and assistance to China and any other of our friends who are brutally attacked. But at the same time, we must respect the spirit of The Neutrality Act. Americans WANT to remain neutral. Ambassador Bullitt, my close friend, was 100% wrong to tell the French that we would fight with them if Hitler invaded. The U.S. will not join a “stop-Hitler bloc” under any circumstances, and in the event of German aggression against Czechoslovakia, the U.S. will remain neutral.

What is happening?

I just don't understand. Nothing makes sense anymore. What have we all come to? Hitler has come into rule, and what good has this done for any of us? Czechoslovakia was held against their will, nothing to protect them and caught off guard while we sit back and let all of this unravel before our very eyes. I cannot believe people could be so inconsiderate. To me, all Germany is trying to do is stir up trouble. People are being blind. What Hitler did to bring people into this submissive and dazed state has blown my mind. All I know is that it is working and everyone is under Hitler's hypnosis spell. Chaos is what all of this has brought. And now it dawns on us that Germany may be up to something? Pity people don't open their eyes when something like this comes along. Pity people don't care that other nations out there are struggling under the power of Germany. But what effect does my say have on this conclusion? I can only hope someone out there is listening.
